Halloween Dinner, Part 1

In my family, we have a family style dinner every weekend. It is the way that my parents and siblings try to stay close, started shortly after my mom and dad got a divorce. We always plan a menu, where each member of the family is in charge of bringing a certain assigned dish. We also rotate the host, between my mom’s house, my younger sister’s house and my own home. I was volunteered to have the Halloween theme family dinner, and my sister Lucy and I decided the menu, Halloween themed, of course…  :D

We gathered inspiration from Pinterest for the spooky fare. There were so many great ideas, it was a shame we couldn’t try them all this year!

The Spooktacular Menu:

  • Pumpkin Veggie Tray
  • Wormy Apples
  • Meat Hand on a bed of Rotten Potatoes
  • Mummy Wraps
  • Tentacle Pie
  • Guacamole and Salsa w/ tortilla chips

Pumpkin Veggie Tray via Taste of Home

Caramel Apples via Kraft  (I added the gummy worms for the extra creepiness factor)

Mummy Wraps inspired by Unfurled and Our Best Bites  (My dad was in charge of these, and had my brother and niece do his dirty work)

Meat Hand via Not Martha (My mom made this one, and she made it huge!! I joked that it was more like a giants hand.. hehe)

Tentacle Pot Pie via Not Martha  (My sister Lucy did this one)

Guacamole and salsa, inspired by Deep in the Heart of Arkansas

The food turned out fantastically creepy, and even though some of it looks gross and full on gore.. it tasted delish! Truly, there were no left overs, which is not much of a surprise with a family as large as mine!!
